we have a running Oracle 8i in NT 2000 since year 2004, now we have a new Machine onto which we install a fresh copy of OS and also fresh Installation of Oracle. but..i want to have all those settings, users, database as it is running.

i am creating regular dumps of the current database running. now please some body tell me the exact and the easiest way to setup a parallel database .

i hope there may be some one who will take this a a serious and guides me the true path

Read http://www.orafaq.com/forum/mv/msg/139482/490232/102589/#msg_490232 and watch the last link, it is for 10g XE but you can do the same with 8i as it explains how to do in the old way with a new version.

Note that export dumps are useless for this.

Michel

And did you read and watch what I told you to read and watch?
As I said you CANNOT achieve what you want with export dumps.
