Hi everyone. So I update the pfile for oracle to go from 32GB SGA to 74GB SGA. After restarting oracle works perfectly by my console doesn't want to start.

emctl start dbconsole

Gives me this

Starting Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control ............................................................................................. failed.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Logs are generated in directory /oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/BAANP740_b4c4/sysman/log

Attached is the emagent.log
Some more info here
the agent seem fine. But I cannot seem to find the problem.
Any assistance would be great!.

Thank you.

Sorry, my fault for the error. The correct command should have been:
$ ls -ld /oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/BAANP740_b4c4/sysman/log
Anyway, try:
$ chmod -R 755 /oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/BAANP740_b4c4/sysman/log
That should get rid of the errors thrown by sgastart.pl to start with.

Next, what does the following show?
ls -l /oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/sysman/config/esa/instance.properties

Sorry, I've just realised that I misread your OP. What happens if you put the SGA back to 32GB?

I'll have to test that. It is a production box so it might take me a few day's to check.
Why would that make a difference? Any other setting to change?

The additional memory used by the SGA appears to be stopping the agent from starting. What is the total memory is on the server?

Port 1158 is already in use, I suspect.

Try:
$ netstat -tulpn|grep 1158

I think you have confused your Oracle Homes. You need to be clear on whether you are using Database Control (run from the database home) or Grid Control (which has its on Oracle homes, for the agent and for the OMS). Which do you want to use?
