Hi,

We have a Sun StorageTek 2540 with 12x300GB disks. We have to put the large database(not OLTP) on this array and we are not interested in the redundancy because we have another same setup(standby setup with orcale dataguard).

Can anyone help which RAID to use with array to get the best performance ? Options we have :
1. We are considering RAID-5 and RAID-0+1.Obviously RAID-5 gives us more usable space(SUN alo recommends this) but Oracle always recommends RAID-1+0.

2. The descision aggrevates because we also want to use oracle' RAID i.e ASM on the software level.SUN says that do not use the
ASM because storage array can provide required performance? But as oracle professional I want to use it as well.

Any help in this regard !!!

Best Regards

use raid 5 all together for data
use raid 1+ 0 for redo/temp/undo/controlfile
